“Balance is not something you find, it’s something you create.”
This is a beautiful quote by Jana Kingsford that can change the perspective of how you view balance.
The word find often times implies that something in fact was lost. When you introduce the word create in place of the word find, it can truly enhance your yoga practice. Every moment of everyday is different, and life is constantly changing and moving forward, thus asking us to constantly be a part of its creation. Your yoga practice is similar to the movement of life. Every time you step onto your mat you are creating a new experience, and balance plays a significant role. You can create balance in your practice with awareness on the physical and mental aspects as well as your breath.
The next time you think to yourself, “I need to find my balance.” rather, try to create it.
Create it by hugging in to stabilize and then extending out. Create it by guiding the mind to be as still as a calm lake. Create it by breathing steadily.
You are the creator of your personal practice, and you can take what you learn on your mat and bring this awareness into other areas of your life.
